BUT, NO BASEBALL!

STORM

Hurricane Ian

Roberta did a great job with the Big Bird, but it looks like turkey sandwiches for a long time!

Granddaughter Annika played the role of Tessie in the 15 performance, 4 week run of Irving Berlin's "White Christmas," at the Prague Theater.  The house was sold out for all the shows.  The show played to terrific reviews, especially from her grandparents!

Happy Thanksgiving from the lanai in Fort Myers,  FL

Hammond Stadium, spring home of the Minnesota Twins and site of numerous South Dakota Rushmore championship games, sits idle this November.  The Roy Hobbs over 75 tournament was cancelled after Hurricane Ian ravaged southwest Florida.  This year the baseball complex is a parking place for wrecked vehicles and a dumping ground for general Ian debris.

Ice laden power lines were especially vulnerable to wind!

No baseball this year!   But, rumor has it that there may be a tourney in March for all of us over 75 year olds!

Congratulations are also offered by Maggie and Bobby.

OUR HOME!  Everyone has seen the disastrous photos from Ft. Myers, post IAN.  We dodged major damage on our home.  As you can see, we have a bunch of roof tiles out of place, and we lost most of our lanai screening.   But, the house doesn't leak and they think the propped up palm tree will take root again.  So, now it is wait for the insurance negotiations to be completed!

Annika gets post show hug from mom Inger.

WELCOME

WHITE CHRISTMAS

Roberta and I had to  spend  Thanksgiving alone this year in the Sunshine State.   We had a very pleasant day but would have traded the sunshine for the family.  But, all the kids and grandkids and significant others had a place to be, plenty of food and peace!

Our handy little generator provided enough electricity to keep our furnace running and our house warm.

Other homes in our community didn't fare as well!

A fierce ice storm battered Brookings County, South Dakota in early December.  Iced up wires sagged and snapped, tree branches (sometimes whole trees) got heavy and broke, and roads had many inches of pure ice on their surface.  Our electric cooperative did a great job in restoring power at our place after only two days.  Some areas had to wait a bit longer as scores of wooden electrical poles snapped off and had to be replaced.
