Genus:poa did the liturgy, hymns, and provided special music at Peace Lutheran, Plymouth, MN

SUMMER  -  2022

Roberta, Todd and I provided special music at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks on July 10.   It's always fun to try to add meaning or enjoyment to a worship service.

Roberta gave Annika and Maggie a tour of her old stomping grounds. She grew up in the valley. They stopped at the Loom Shop for some needed loom products, and visited the immigrants cabin in the  State Park on Lake Hendricks.

And then there were the wind storms!   Two high velocity storms battered our farm this spring and added significantly to the grove damage left over from last year's storm.  Six or eight huge trees were toppled or broken off with one landing on our lone grain bin and caving in the top.  Eddie came to our rescue and cleaned out the grove with his big machinery.   He piled all of the timber in our pasture and you can get an idea of how much damage there was.  The broken tree was extricated from the bin, leaving a useless, leaky structure.   Our grove can't handle many more events like that one!

And, my golf team, second place winners, is shown high fiving Dale after he drained a 40 foot birdie putt.

Annika: Off Broadway in Minneapolis

Annika got to perform in her first play since the pandemic restrictions were somewhat relaxed.  Anni played her first professional lead role as Maggie in the serious comedy "Bringing Up Baby Mama."   The two weekends of performances were staged at the Phoenix Theater on Hennepin Avenue.  The play got very good reviews and now the actors are looking forward to the next challenge.

As spring morphs into summer on the Buffalo Ridge,  this Canadian goose family is checking out our front yard.   The Black Slough in the background is their home and we usually don't see the families this far from the water.

Hendricks   vs   Atwater,      in a friendly!

And Bobby joined in for the hymns and liturgy.

The Hendricks 5K

Astoria High School held its reunion on Saturday, July 23.  Attendance at the banquet was very good and I've attached a photo of the illustrious Class of 1957.  Back row is spouse Melvin, spouse Jim, Don, and Phil.   Front are Beverly, Jean, Jeanette, and Beverly.

After missing last year because of Covid, we managed to reinstate the golf event between our family and some of our friends, classmates, and team athletes from Atwater.   The day was damp but our enthusiasm wasn't!  Some fine shots were exhibited and a whole lot of reminiscing was accomplished.  We look forward to next year!

WELCOME

For many years our family has participated in the 4th of July 5K.   We ran across an old photo of Bobby, Annika, and me on race day.  The years pass by so  fast it is hard to keep up.  The three of us ran this year, as did Inger and Todd, all in our official Black Slough Running Club shirts!

Back:  Inger, Doug, Phil, Dean, and Jan

Front:   Brian, Todd, and John

A last minute decision, no tee times available, and a tight activities schedule resulted in an early round of golf for Inger, Bobby and I.  We started golfing as the fairway mowers went to work.  The round was as pleasant as the photo!

WIND!
