Bobby's dorm room is taking shape!

Granddaughter Kjerstine had a role in the FargoMoorhead Theater production of YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, presented at the Hjemmkomst Center in Moorhead, Minnesota.  She is shown below, after a performance, with her mom Mitzi and dad Todd.

Bobby and I found time to get in a good game of catch on one of the Harvard greens.

Our Phoenix team is pictured to the left.  Third from left in front row is our videographer Jeff Lowery.  I am second from right in front row.

Cousin Camille Digre and her daughter Shelley, from Buffalo MN, visited us at the farm.  Cindy grew up in Hendricks and enjoyed visiting many of her friends in the area.

It's Baseball Time, Again!

My patentable device for getting a workout when i'm all alone.  The mini tramp has just the right rebound to return the ball to me after I make a pitch.  But, I have to hit the target!!!!!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!   May 2022 be your best ever.

Most of the faces in Ft. Myers  are the same but close inspection reveals some new talent.   Kent forgot to wear the correct uniform!  I am second from left in first row.  This photo was taken in Hammond Stadium, spring home of the Minnesota Twins.

Bobby took up residence in Boston this fall as he begins his three year program at Harvard Law School.  Inger (his mom), Roberta and I took a trip to get a first hand look at his situation.

Personally, I had a very good year in both tournaments.   With the exception of two thirds of an inning pitching, I fielded well, hit well, and was able to keep mobile for both tourneys.

Throwing out a runner at first!

Roberta and I had lunch with Steve Hemmingsen and Maria at Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda.

After coming down to Florida to play baseball in the Roy Hobbs World Series, Roberta and I decided to stay here for Christmas.   We decided it was safer to just stay here rather than tempt air travel crowds.   So, next, we invited the kids and their kids to come down here for Christmas.  Since Inger, Annika, and Bobby had a schedule that could be adapted to that plan they came to Florida.   Todd's calendar wasn't so pliable, but he scheduled a trip in February.   Kirby is trying to arrange a later trip and Mitzi's travel plans are up in the air.  Anyway, we had a really fun time with Inger and Annika and Bobby and are looking forward to celebrating with the others a bit later.

Golfing on Christmas!  What a concept!

WELCOME

For the twenty-first time I packed up my baseball gear, got airline tickets, and traveled, with Roberta,  to Phoenix, AZ, to join the South Dakota Rushmores Baseball Team as they attempted to win, again, the MSBL World Series Championship.  My first year to compete was 2000.  Last year, 2020, our team chose not to  participate because of the Covid pandemic.  About half of our team of Rushmores is from South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Canada and the rest are from all over the country.  A week after Phoenix the Rushmores traveled to Ft. Myers, FL, to compete in the Roy Hobbs World Series, the tournament that they won in 2019.

Both of these teams were about equally successful.   Neither of them was able to win the championship but both of them made the playoffs.  The Phoenix team was eliminated by a team from Akron, Ohio, and the Ft. Myers team by a group from San Diego, California.  The average age of the Rushmores is approaching 80!  The teams that eliminated the South Dakotans were made of mostly of 74 and 75 years olds.  And, with some bad luck injuries, surgeries, and other old age maladies, as well as being short of pitching, the Rushmores had to settle this year for the middle of the pack.  Rumor?  There is talk of an 80 year old division in Florida next year???????????
