Beautiful McCrory Gardens in Brookings is hosting a "Party on the Porch" for a few Sundays in September this year. On the 13th, the Oak Lake String Band performed for the strollers, lunchers, and music lovers. Son Todd is the mandolinist in the band.
Then, a couple of weeks later, the String Band gave Watertown a taste of their Bluegrass.
The Monarch butterflies are migrating through McCrory Gardens at this time.
Annika prepared two meals for the old folks (pork chops and pasta soup). Mmmmm!
We checked out Annika's softball pitching prowess. This pic obviously isn't on the farm.
This has been the summer of the insidious Coronavirus 19 pandemic. The country is still trying to get control of its spread, but not having a lot of luck in doing so. The national death toll is nearing 200,000, the midwestern states are just now peaking in their positive tests, hospitalizations, and deaths, and the experts predict a resurgence in cases as the late fall and winter months approach. And the upcoming election throws the entire nation into turmoil. Not a good time! With the continuing advice to self isolate, the people are craving social interaction and the opportunity to go to events, eat out, and travel. Roberta and I try to be inventive as we fight boredom.
Annika also got to renew her familiarity with the Farmall C. She hadn't forgotten a thing.
It's the middle of October, the Pandemic is getting worse again, Hendricks is harboring many positives, the surrounding schools are trying to stay open and continuing to play football and volleyball, the medical experts are urging the usage of masks (but many citizens refuse), and more and more people find themselves in rent money and food money difficulty. And here comes winter!
Granddaughter Annika, who is between jobs, decided to spend a few fall days on the farm before her new position with Tamar Fink begins on the 19th. It was a rewarding few days for Roberta and me!
Inger quarantined on the deck after a positive report from Minneapolis.
It appears we dodged a covid!
Deck sitting allowed good visiting, lunching, and reading!
Annika @ The Farm
We had to check on a fence which runs through the reeds on the edge of the slough.
Inger got in a brief two day visit while Annika was here.
Fall 2020
This octet of golfers tees off at noon every day (if weather permits)!
