August 30, 2022, turned out to be a huge day in the life of Annika Trooien Isbell. In addition to celebrating her 25th birthday, Annika and Maggie decided to get engaged!!! Family and friends had a backyard party in Minneapolis to celebrate both events. The day was gorgeous, the yard was intimate, and the conversation was stimulating. All the best to Granddaughter Annika and Maggie!
As I have stated before, since I attended Hendricks Public School for grades one through ten, and I attended Astoria Public School for grades eleven and twelve, I really have two sets of good friends and classmates. The Hendricks class invites me to their reunions also. Very nice, and very appreciated!
July 17 was the annual backyard extravaganza of Adrienne and John that they call Farmhilly. It is a bombardment of rock music, by many bands, that penetrates to one's soul. But, there is also an inclusion of the token Bluegrass band, Genus:poa. We have performed at this celebration for many years and the thrill of playing is as strong as ever. This year we included a set of Cajun music for which Roberta gets out the accordian and we try to emulate the sound of Bourbon Street!

Annika's Big Day
Todd's Bluegrass Band, The Oak Lake String Band, did a gig at the Canby, MN, park on a beautiful summer evening. A great crowd was very responsive to their pickin' and grinnin'!
There were a couple of noteworthy golf events this fall: I played fairly good golf in the Hendricks Golf Club Members Tournament and came in second in the Men's Senior Championship flight. It's always fun to win some hardware! And, Todd organized another meeting of some of our Atwater friends at the Hendricks Golf Course. We had a very social round of golf as we swapped sports stories from the past.
